Typical risks
- Electrical fires due to failure of the equipment or cooling system.
- Primarily Lithium-ion for residential/grid use, plus Sodium-sulfur (NaS), Lead-acid, and Redox Flow batteries.
- Redox Flow batteries rely on water-based electrolytes and are not flammable, though electrical equipment used in the process could fail and produce a fire.
Typical requirements
- High speed response.
- May or may not be manned so a very high-speed fire protection system is required.
- The location of large items of equipment could have a shadow effect, so the placement of flame detectors is critical, especially if using containers.
